Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. (KTERC). KTERC is the first certified organic tea garden in Nepal that was established in 1984 by Mr. Deepak Prakash Baskota to rid his community of poverty. It remains a model social enterprise still today, that runs on cooperative infrastructure and is truly focused on the people and planet before profit.
The base tea used in this blend is Kanchanjangha Noir. All of the other ingredients are also produced in Nepal and in our own farm by our local farmers.
The idea for this breakfast tea blend came when we were opening our first tea bar in Nepal and wanted to experiment with tea blending which was not a common thing in Nepal until even a few years ago. While it was the most common form of tea that was consumed in Nepal, every household generally mixed the spices themselves in every brew they made manually. There wasn’t really a standard chai mix concept in Nepal. The name and our recipe has been very well received locally and internationally. In fact, Nepali Breakfast is our best selling tea in the US.

This Nepali breakfast tea is for anyone who loves masala chai. Though it does not include some specific Indian masala chai ingredients like green cardamom, cloves and star anise, it sure will give you a perspective on a simpler yet a beautiful cup of chai.
